Uptown Funk AI is the AI dance video trend built on the street routine of the "Uptown Funk" music video, where people use AI to put a new crew of five in the row, one of them leading in the middle, dressed to fit the crew, with the song playing. People also call it the Uptown Funk AI video, the Uptown Funk AI trend and the AI Uptown Funk video.
"Uptown Funk" is a 2014 song by Mark Ronson featuring Bruno Mars, the lead single of Uptown Special. It spent fourteen weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and won Record of the Year at the 2016 Grammy Awards. Its music video, directed by Cameron Duddy and Bruno Mars, shows the band singing, walking and dancing down a New York-style city street and has passed 5.6 billion views on YouTube. The trend remakes its street routine: the arms-up wide shot, the low-angle crouch, the kick step and the lean-in finish.
On October 7, 2026, Gary Lau (@garylau_ai) posted an AI version on X with five tech CEOs as the crew, with Elon Musk leading in the middle, Jensen Huang, Sam Altman, Mark Zuckerberg and Sundar Pichai. The same day it went up on Bilibili and passed 1.5 million plays. Since then, people have remade it with crews of their own: TV casts, sports teams, superhero teams and game characters.
People make their own versions with five people their crew knows as a set, with one of them leading in the middle. The outfits change to fit the crew, while the street, the moves and the cuts stay the same.
