A Day of the Dead AI video is a Día de Muertos memorial video made with AI from one photo of a loved one who passed, or of a pet. People also call it a Día de Muertos AI video, a Dia de los Muertos AI video or a marigold bridge video.
In the video, their feet step across a bridge of glowing cempasúchil petals at night, and each step lights the petals gold. The camera rises up their own clothes from the photo. They crouch, scoop the glowing petals in both hands, rise, smile and look up at you. After a fade to black, the video ends on their photo in an ornate gold frame on an altar of marigolds, candles and monarch butterflies.
The idea comes from Día de Muertos on November 1 and 2, when a path of cempasúchil petals guides loved ones home to the ofrenda. The same memorial videos went viral in October 2025, when TV Azteca and El Universal published step-by-step guides. The 2026 wave started on TikTok on October 3 with CapCut templates, and its biggest posts passed 12.1 million and 8.0 million views.
A CapCut template by Chio_mora shows the loved one as a 3D animated character on the glowing petals and ends on their real photo in a gold frame. That template passed 154,534 uses by October 24, 2026. The top post, by @ia_chiomora on October 20, passed 3.6 million views, captioned "No lo dejen solito, es su primera vez cruzando el puente de cempasúchil". The comments people leave most under these posts are "make one of my dad" and "make one of my mom". A second CapCut template, "Se acordaron de ti", where the loved one turns into a skeleton under a marigold arch and back, passed 287,893 uses by October 24, 2026, adding about 87,000 a day. Pets have their own night to be remembered on October 27.
Seadanse builds the bridge story, the Skeleton Arch story, the gold-frame ending and soft music into our Day of the Dead AI video generator.
